Snow Canyon State Park is packed with 16 miles of adventurous hiking trails. These trails range from Easy to Difficult. The park is in Red-Rock Country near St. George in Southern, Utah. With mild winters, it is easily enjoyed most of the year. This is an excellent spot for nature enthusiasts and bird watchers. Snow Canyon is also known for abundant wildlife. Enjoy a picnic amongst the backdrop of red and white sandstone cliffs.
There are many fun hikes, but for a day trip we narrowed it down to ability level. For a beautiful easy hike, we will take the Petrified Dunes Trail. This is a somewhat moderate hike with breathtaking views. The trail is around 1.5 miles. There are a few steep slopes, but the elevation is only 216 feet total. As always there is uneven terrain and sturdy shoes are a must.
Another enjoyable hike is the Tuacahn Trail. This trail is around 3 miles and boasts of beautiful views, wildflowers and so much more. The path has rocks that must be maneuvered, but after a rainfall, there is a merely magnificent waterfall.
Another hike that you can explore Utah’s Snow Canyon is the Red Mountain Hike. This path is only for serious hikers and is around 12 miles. There are jagged rocks, deep sand, and seriously insane scenery. The hike itself is only about 435 feet in elevation, but it can be slippery in some areas, and the sand in places is quite deep, making the trek a little more advanced.
Whichever hike you choose to make, there is water available for you and snacks. After the hike, there will be a lovely picnic for you to enjoy.
Please always remember to bring a hat, sunscreen, sturdy shoes, and even bug spray.
